Hello there!
If you're here you've been referred to me by someone because you're looking for a voice teacher! Awesome! This is my private teaching page where you can find all of the information about working with me. I don't advertise, because I like to keep my teaching schedule small so that I can really focus on the students I'm working with, and also because I'm an active performer maintaining a busy schedule.
I maintain a small private studio of voice students by referral only. The goal of our work is to synthesize the coordination of mind, body, and spirit to create the optimum conditions for vocal ease and freedom. Together we can discover the techniques that work best for you to achieve vocal freedom, longevity, and health. You'll leave our work with the tools necessary to feel confident in the art of singing, whether you're a total beginner (and yes I LOVE working with beginners!) or you just signed a contract for 8 performances a week in a Broadway musical (GREAT-let's work on keeping your voice healthy and strong so that you can sing 8 shows a week without doing damage).
I teach all styles of singing, however the majority of my students are musical theatre performers, actors, or dancers. My foundation is a "classical" foundation, which is necessary to find the freedom, health, and longevity of your voice. Yes we will do scales, and yes they are important! We'll go through a variety of exercises that I'll give you to help strengthen your voice and get you moving along. I've been teaching for over 13 years. I received my Master's in Voice Performance from Bowling Green State University and have sung in opera and musical theatre extensively over the past 15 years.
Since most of our work in the beginning will be us digging into the nuts and bolts of technique (don't worry it will be fun), we won't be going through a lot of music in our first lesson.
First Lesson: This is really us getting to know each other and me understanding where you are vocally. If you have a piece in your repertoire that you're comfortable with, please bring it with you to sing for me. We will mostly be vocalizing and doing exercises that will be integral to our work together and to getting you on the road to singing confidently.
Location: We will meet in a small, comfortable rehearsal studio in Midtown Manhattan.
Availability: Please fill out the contact form below to reach me to schedule your lesson! I'll respond within 24 hours.
Pricing: $100 for the hour (this includes our studio rental in midtown).
Pianist: Please note once we start working on repertoire you will want to either bring electronic files of the accompaniment (I can refer you to someone who lays down great rehearsal tracks) so that we can use this, or I can hire a pianist for the lesson (either half or full lesson) for an additional fee for the pianist.
Payment: Payment can be made via cash, check, or any major credit card. Payment can be made in advance via Venmo or Paypal, or in person before our lesson.
Cancellation: I understand things happen (auditions, illness, etc)...if you need to reschedule our lesson I just ask that you do it within 24 hours if possible. No problem we can reschedule. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice I will send you an invoice for the full hour as well as the fee for the space.
